Silicon Valley compact car

Silicon Valley compact car, originally uploaded by henry in a’dam.

I was in Palo Alto, California last week, or technically Menlo Park when I took this photo. There they have some of the smaller parking spaces designated “COMPACT”, I assume meaning “this space is reserved for smaller cars”.

Apparently opinions vary about what constitutes a compact car. Incidentally this wasn’t the only offender, just the most egregious one at that moment directly in front of me.

I live in Silicon Valley and I am constantly amazed by what people squeeze into compact spaces. Your example here is particularly bad, of course!

    Abigail,
Oh I get it: “Compact” doesn’t mean that the parking space is designated for compact cars. It’s just tells the driver that the space is small. That explains everything.

I keep a stack of these forms in my glove box for these moments.

Is that the parking garage under Kepler’s, Cafe Barone, etc.?

The problem when many people back into a spot is that they don’t back in far enough, otherwise I’d think they were practicing for this contest.

Sometimes I’m tempted to park as close as possible to them too, but I’m passive-agressive enough as it is.
